Using Translation

The County of San Mateo has added a translation feature developed by Google Translate to assist web visitors in understanding information on this website in a variety of foreign languages. Please be aware that Google Translate, a free third party service which the County does not control, provides automated computer translations that may not give you an exact translation. The County cannot guarantee the accuracy of translations through Google Translate so translations should not be considered exact and only used as a rough guide. Anyone relying on information obtained from Google Translate does so at his or her own risk. The County disclaims and will not accept any liability for damages or losses of any kind caused by the use of the Google Translate feature.

Happy Earth Month! As we step further into spring, the month of April reminds us to celebrate our planet and continue working towards a healthier future together. Here at the Sustainability Department, we have a variety of events we’ll be participating in, and we can’t wait to connect with our community across San Mateo County. All of these events are free to attend but note that some require an RSVP. 

Whether you’re a parent looking for a fun weekend activity or a student interested in learning about sustainable careers, we’ve got you covered. Check out the map below to find an event near you!

Sustainable Career FairTuesday, April 7, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • In partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education and SMCCCD Sustainability, College of San Mateo Workforce Development is hosting the Sustainable Career Fair. This event offers students the opportunity to explore careers in sustainability by connecting directly with employers across industries such as clean energy, environmental science, green technology, and sustainable design. Students can engage in meaningful conversations, learn about career pathways, and gain insight into the skills and experiences needed to enter these fields.

Resilience Fair with CRCSaturday, April 18, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Join Resilient San Bruno and Climate Resilient Communities for climate educational workshops, get connected with local organizations, and participate in family-friendly activities! It will be a “family-friendly day of community safety, health and preparedness / Un día familiar dedicado a la seguridad, la salud y la preparación.”

EcoFest at Pacifica State BeachSaturday, April 18, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Pacific Beach Coalition’s annual Earth Day EcoFest is a free, family-friendly outdoor community event at Pacifica State Beach in Linda Mar. The festival will include more than 30 booths and activities with local partner organizations!

San Carlos Earth DaySunday, April 19, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Learn simple actions you can take at home to reduce waste, save water, and conserve energy. This is the perfect event for a family or friends outing, or a solo visit that sparks new ideas for greener living.

Earth Fest at Cañada CollegeThursday, April 23, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Hosted by the San Mateo County Community College District, this event will be full of fun and learning. Activities include a clothing swap, donations to local animal rescues, and eco-friendly giveaways!

SpringFest at Quarry ParkSaturday, April 25, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Celebrate spring at Quarry Park where San Mateo County Parks will host crafts, face painting, and fun performances from Sterling Bubbles and the saxophone ensemble, fun’SQ.

Love Our Earth FestSaturday, April 25, 12:00 – 3:00 PM

  • This cherished annual event brings together local organizations, environmental experts, and community members to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. Free activities include interactive environmental education exhibits, children’s activities, live entertainment, and food trucks featuring local plant-based cuisine.
